An Ikigai Story
with Ingrid Lill
An Ikigai story delves into the profound journey of an individual's pursuit and uncovering of their Ikigai, their true purpose in life.
It weaves together the various chapters of their life, documenting the challenges, introspection, and self-discovery that lead them to unearth their Ikigai.
My conversation with Ingrid Lill revealed two Ikigai stories. Two stories of people embodying their Ikigai with unwavering commitment, joy, and fulfillment, making a positive impact on both themselves and the world around them.
Ingrid is a self-described ‘Visual Thinking Partner’ who helps people get clarity of their ideas through storyboarding or drawing.
Ingrid’s process is to start with ‘what I do,' and then show the before and after experience.
In my case, it was the Who, What, and Why of Ikigai then the story of my client Tom* as I coached him through creating his Ikiverse.
Your Ikiverse is a quick single-sentence way to express your Ikigai, your purpose.
By developing your Ikiverse, you can communicate your purpose to others and enlist support and guidance from those around you.
During that conversation, she created the remarkable storyboard you see here.
It illustrates the process of Tom uncovering his Ikigai by creating his Ikiverse illustrating the dramatic before and after of Tom’s life.
Here is a small taste of the creation process…

In addition, Ingrid shared her own remarkable Quest for Ikigai.
From being a shy graphic artist who once believed that only art displayed in museums qualified as 'real art to someone who draws live in front of an audience and connects everything she does to her art.
