The work of John O’Donohue came to me quite by accident and sadly only after his unexpected passing.
It may seem odd to feel sorrow at the loss of a friend when that friend was someone you never met before.
Read this from his book To Bless the Space Between Us and most of you will see why.
Look for the threads of Ikigi in each verse.
Return awaken to the mystery of being here and entering the quiet immensity of your own presence.
Have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.
Receive encouragement when new frontiers beckon.
Respond to the call of your gift and the courage to follow its path.
Let the flame of anger free you of all falsity.
May warmth of heart keep your presence aflame.
May anxiety never linger about you.
May your outer dignity mirror and inner dignity of soul
Take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek new attention.
Be consoled in the secret symmetry of your soul.
May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven around the heart of wonder.
🌀Reflection:
🌱 How does this connect to the ‘harmony’ of Ikigai?
🌱 When was the last time you experienced a day like this?
Although I had never heard of him before, John O’Donohue clearly seems to have a beautiful way with words!
There is a lightness in his sentences, a sense of freedom, a feeling of self-acceptance, of simply being!
Thanks David!
