Spillover II, sculpture by Jaume Plensa in Shorewood, Wisconsin
Burnout is what happens when living outside of your Ikigai for too long.
We are put on this Earth not to fashion ourselves into some ideal we imagine we ought to be but to uncover who we already are and become that person fully, living into it in every aspect of our lives.
Ikigai is about experiencing your essence and purpose in harmony with whatever you do.
Burnout is avoidable if you're willing to invest your energy in building your routine to develop well-being, resilience, and meaning in everything you do.
I could not find an answer to that third question yesterday.
You gave us the answer to it today and it all makes sense: Do what makes you feel good, so you can feel good about what you do.
Thank you.
Great sculpture with so many words in it of encouragement. My biggest ones among many are Hope and Love...I would add Faith in that for me as "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1) So without a faith in something other than ourselves what true moral compass and stability do we have...seek inner peace to have outer tranquility! Pax, Lux et Amor! Veritas IHS
