Today I want to 'dig' deep into a couple of ideas.
If you try harder or dig deeper, you'll make it!
Has anyone ever heard admonishments like that? Sometimes they are true.
Other times it is worth considering what Seymour Chwast said.
"If you dig a hole and it’s in the wrong place, digging it deeper isn’t going to help."
A lot of our digging comes in the form of ‘thinking.’
When the thoughts you have aren't serving you, a simple technique that works is asking for another thought.
What's a different way I can think about this?
How can I view this differently?
What thoughts would best serve me in this situation?
I spent the last several years of my corporate career digging the same hole, hoping that digging deeper would improve things.
It didn’t.
I pivoted my career when I finally changed my thinking and realized it was time to find another place to dig.
Now I live my Ikigai.
🌀Reflection:
What are you doing right now that isn't working?
How might you think about the situation differently, like the questions above?
Maybe instead of digging deeper, it would be best to look for another place to dig, to try something new.
Great points and may equate to working harder on a task but in this case it’s choosing the right place and inner purpose to dig or direct oneself. Similar to climbing the ladder to success then realizing it was against the wrong wall 😉 Pax, Lux et Amor, IHS
