Ikigai Thought for Today: Experience Your Ikigai
Experiment, test, and try to 'experience' your Ikigai rather than wait for it to come to you.
We learn about ourselves when we experience things, uncovering our authentic selves only by living.
I’ve shared the idea that the process of uncovering your Ikigai requires you to experiment, test, and try to 'experience' your Ikigai rather than wait for it to come to you.
The word experience comes from the Latin words "ex" meaning 'out of' + "peritus" meaning "try and test".
This also relates to the words 'expert' and 'experiment'. Viewing experiences as experiments - a way of trying things - helps eliminate the fear of failure. We can be open to discovery and understanding.
We become more ‘expert’ in understanding ourselves as we experiment and learn.
This leads us to new questions we can ask right now.
🌀 Reflection:
🌱 Am I enjoying what I’m experiencing right now?
🌱 What is still in store for me?
🌱 What would I like to be in store for me?
This rings true to me. Testing out different versions of an Ikiverse in day to day life showed me which parts were true, were not just reflecting but directing me to growth
Yes, experiencing, testing, be curious of how I am and how I am living my Ikigai makes so much sense. Life, in many ways, is (or at least should be seen) as an experiment where we engage and learn about ourselves. Thanks, as always!
