Here’s an Ikigai Thought for your Tuesday…
Some journeys are direct, and some are circuitous; some are heroic, and some are fearful and muddled. But every journey, honestly undertaken, stands a chance of taking us toward the place where our deep gladness meets the world’s deep need.”
Parker J. Palmer
🌀 Reflection:
🌱 What journeys have you undertaken in your life? How many were heroic? Fearful? Muddled?
🌿 What does Parker mean by a journey ‘honestly’ taken?
🌱 How could living your Ikigai merge your deepest gladness with what the world needs?
During this season of Lent for we Christians going into the dessert is both fearful and exhilarating! Leaving behind the weights of the world to only have the bare minimum in order to get closer to what is truly important. When we travel within ourselves it is a journey like none other. It is not like climbing a mountain where the goal may be to summit it and of course enjoy all the lessons on the way. The question is more....then what? Another peak, another adventure? With the journey within it is to clear things out and in doing so have less distractions, obligations, possessions that call to you constantly. It is communication with the Divine and in doing so do we even for a moment in time feel the love of the only source that truly knows what love and sacrifice is all about! Quest well!
Very few heroic, but I’ll come back to that.
Many fearful.
Tons of muddled.
Perhaps more heroic that I first gave myself credit for. After all, I’m still in the game and I have done some things that were difficult for me. So perhaps we shouldn’t judge ourselves by other people’s standards, or what we think are other people’s standards, but simply by how challenged we felt at the time we did it.
Perhaps I’m a hero in my own lunchtime.😀
