Ikigai Thought for Today: The Infinite Uniqueness of You
Using your unique and even quirky qualities to reveal your Ikigai
Audio narration by David Marlow
As with all my students, I encourage embracing the unique elements of what makes you, 'you.'
We are each born with the ability to do a unique combination of things better than anyone else. The trick is uncovering your combination.
That can be uncomfortable at first. It has taken me years to be okay with many of my perfectly fine weirder traits.
Here's one.
This photo is from a stroll in Seattle a few years ago where the sidewalk matched my shoes.
Yes, it is true, I can't always remember the name of a person I was just introduced to while I notice things like this and often photograph them.
I used to think it was weird.
Now I embrace it as cool.
I notice things because I am curious. That curiosity allows me to bring together ideas and combinations others never see.
🌀What about you?
🌀What's weird cool about you?
Ikigai Idea: Living into Ikigai is embracing the unique expression of you, your gifts, passion, skills, and place to impact the world. Even the weird parts.
Quest well!
Great point is being Curious every day! Without this we are but only living and not loving the state we are in and evolving forward incrementally. You're a Japanese philosophy person and sure you know > Kaizen is the belief that small, consistent improvements lead to significant progress over time. Rather than waiting for a crisis or disruption to force change, Kaizen encourages a proactive approach: learning, adjusting, refining, and moving forward one step at a time. SO...being curious and so-called weird in many ways not only uncovers some things good and not so good to be proactive and not reactive while uncovering new ways to do and see life, while always moving forward just a bit towards the excellence we wish to achieve! Quest well ;)
Our imperfections are what makes us perfectly uniquely us.
