Ikigai Thought for Today: Three Things
Three things you can do today to live into your Ikigai.
Ikigai is about living into our purpose, as our most authentic selves, in every area of our lives.
🌱 This requires learning to be present.
Whether we are focusing on the past, disappointments, failures, hurt, or worrying about the future, we aren’t being present, living, and focusing on this moment.
This thought from C.S. Lewis provides some clues as to how to be more present; it is also one of the most healing and redemptive statements I've ever read…
“We can never know what might have been but what is to come is another matter entirely."
This is about redeeming the past and being mindful in the present while creating the future.
🌀 Reflection:
Here are three things you can do today to start being more present.
1: Live in grace, and be forgiving of your past self.
2: Focus, be strict with your present self.
3: Be open, creative, and flexible with your future self.
And perhaps I’ll add a fourth…quest well.
Live in Grace. That’s beautiful David. I aspire to that
Very inspiring Dave.
Mindful Present, by Peter Stipan, May 15, 2025, ©️ 2025
My bud CS wrote this reliably:
“We can never know what might have been, but what is to come is another matter entirely.”
So I say, “Redeem the past while being mindful in the present.”-
Let me state it:
“Does the future just come or do we create it?”
Forgive your past self, live in God’s grace
Focus on the mindful present,
Then be open, and creative, ready for that future embrace.
Your mindful present brings you home
Ready and able to change with your own
Plans for joy, giving pleasure, pleasing, pleasant.
Always in the mindful present.
Be flexible with the future self of you
Converse daily with you and what you want or will do.
Redraw or erase those lines between the then and now and future to be.
Your sense of the mindful present, can be calm and free.
Forgive your past self, live in God’s grace.
Focus on the mindful present,
Then be open, and creative, ready for that future embrace.
Your mindful present brings you home.
Ready and able to change with your own
Plans for joy, giving pleasure, pleasing, pleasant.
Always in the mindful present.
