🌀Ikigai is experiencing your essence and purpose in harmony with whatever you do.
What does that mean in practical terms?
What does it look like?
How do I get there?
I’ve created the 47 Big Bold Beautiful Benefits Of Ikigai to answer those questions.
Today I share number 3 in the series…Increased Focus
‘Doing less meaningless work, so that you can focus on things of greater personal importance, is NOT laziness. This is hard for most to accept because our culture tends to reward personal sacrifice instead of personal productivity.’
Timothy Ferriss
Frequent distractions, lack of concentration, and constantly changing demands often stand in the way of our ability to focus.
Our phones buzz with notifications, social media beckons with its allure, and our minds get pulled in various directions, making it difficult to stay on track.
When our minds are scattered, we find it hard to accomplish what truly matters.
🌀A clear purpose allows you to focus on what truly matters to you. And when you focus you reduce distractions.
Applying the lessons of Personal Kaizen, here are three small things you can do today to move closer to experiencing Increased Focus:
1: Turn off one unnecessary notification on your phone. 📵
Our phones are our constant companions, vying for our attention with never-ending notifications. Take back control by silencing one unnecessary notification. By doing so, you create a boundary between yourself and the digital distractions, allowing your focus to return to your purposeful pursuits.
2: Spend 5 minutes organizing your workspace. 🗄️
A cluttered and chaotic workspace can add to the noise in your mind and disrupt your focus. Dedicate just five minutes to tidy up your desk and create an environment that fosters concentration and clarity. A clean workspace sets the stage for a clear and purpose-driven mindset.
3: Commit to completing one task before checking social media. 📱
Social media is tempting. Challenge yourself to complete one important task before checking your social feeds. By prioritizing your purposeful work first, you create a pattern of focused accomplishment that fuels your motivation.
While these actions may appear simple, they are potent steps towards enhancing your focus and aligning with your Ikigai.
Remember, increased focus enables you to eliminate distractions and live a more intentional life.

The Power of Saying No: Setting Boundaries for Enhanced Focus
A clear purpose allows you to focus on what truly matters to you. Maintaining focus on those vital things is crucial for living out our Ikigai.
One effective tactic is harnessing the power of saying "no." By setting clear boundaries and declining non-essential commitments, you can regain control over your time and energy.
Here's why and how it works:
The Importance of Saying No:
Saying "no" allows you to devote attention to vital tasks.
Declining requests aligns your commitments with your priorities.
Setting limits reduces overwhelm and prevents burnout.
Politely declining empowers you to take control of your life.
Ways to implement Saying No:
Know your essential tasks and commitments.
Evaluate requests and consider any new opportunities against your current goals and capacity.
Politely decline while expressing appreciation for the opportunity.
Offer alternatives or suggest other solutions and resources if possible.
Avoid Overexplaining. Keep your response concise and respectful.
Benefits:
Enhanced Focus
Improved Productivity
Reduced Stress
💥 Saying no to the wrong things leaves more time to say yes to the right things.
Give these a try. Today could be the beginning of a new sense of increased focus for you.
