Fifteen years ago this summer, I had shoulder surgery and started running again as an indirect result. Both experiences have dramatically improved my overall health and wellness.
One of the things I learned from my recovery and running was the importance of resting but not quitting.
They are different.
We all need rest. I know with my running I like to run nearly every day. I also know I need to take a rest day every so often to stay healthy.
Rest refreshes and keeps you from burnout or in the case of running rest prevents injury.
Burnout or injury is far more likely to lead someone to quit than taking time to rest.
Are you pushing hard on something because you are afraid pausing is quitting?
It is something I know I've dealt with and likely some of you, especially those of us who are recovering perfectionists.
It's okay to pause for a while and rest. It really is okay.
As we head into the weekend, give yourself permission to rest.
🌀 Pause for a while and then get back at it. You'll be amazed at the difference.
Quest well!
I will read more after resting
