🌀 To follow our Ikigai, we need to learn, unlearn and relearn.
Most of us know how to learn or at least have done it successfully at some point in our lives.
Not as many have gotten good at unlearning what we already know. Some of those things did serve us but don't anymore. Some were meant to serve us when we were young but held us back as adults.Â
The brilliant Buckminster Fuller once said…
"I have spent most of my life unlearning things that were proved not to be true."
Of course, unlearning is often the first step to relearning, learning again, or looking at something we know with a new perspective, even after we think we know how things work.
We've discussed the value of doing 'nothing' and embracing quiet time and calm. Certainly, some people need to learn that.
It might involve unlearning the habits or constantly checking email and attending meetings. Or it might mean relearning how to connect with our own inner creativity.
A big part of uncovering our Ikigai is unlearning the things we think about ourselves that aren't true.
🌱 What do you need to learn, unlearn or relearn?
Unlearning is like weeding out the poison ivies from the garden of your mind to sow the seeds for re-learnings and facilitating true knowledge to bloom.
