Sounds of the Sea
Last week, I spent several days listening to the ocean.
Standing at the water’s edge sparked a reflection contemplating limitations and limitlessness.
It’s interesting how life can take us through different phases, including times of poverty.
Those experiences can impact us, shaping how we view the world and our place in it. While we appear to move past those fears of lack, I often wonder if we ever do entirely without intention and effort.
My focus word for the year is ‘abound,’ which means from a place of plenty. I’m embracing the meaning as a means of rewriting old scripts—stories of lack that no longer serve me.
Hearing the waves crash and noticing the tide come in and go out reinforced a better script that something much more significant than my fears is in play—a reminder to take in the splendor of our world that I often overlook.
Getting caught up in our worries, fears, and feelings of lack is easy. Taking a step back and experiencing things like the ocean encourages a new perspective.
We may perceive limits, though, in truth, there is a limitlessness to the world around us.
We are united with the limitless when we notice and embrace splendor in the simple things, like the sights and sounds of the ocean.

Outstanding. Nature teaching is that scarcity has no place in our mind.
