resilience (n.) act of rebounding or springing back, from a root of re-) + salire, to jump, leap, elasticity, power of returning to original shape after compression.
Resilience refers to our ability to bounce back from adversity and continue moving forward.
It is the capacity to adapt to change, cope with difficult emotions, and maintain hope and optimism in the face of challenges.
Resilience allows us to navigate through life's difficulties and setbacks while remaining positive and persistent.
Resilience is not only about the ability to survive tough times. It is also about the ability to thrive and grow from them.
“Everything works out in the end. if it hasn't worked out yet, then it's not the end.”
―Tracy McMillan
I love the word ‘leap’ in the definition of resilience. Not jump…leap.
We leap for joy. We leap into an adventure. Leap is an entirely different category and it doesn’t imply surviving it implies the beginning of an epic event.
Remember, if things haven't worked out yet, it's not the end. Embrace resilience and have faith that you have the strength to overcome any obstacle and live your Ikigai.
When I think of resilience I think of Palm Trees...with all the storms especially in FLA that occur how many Palm Trees do you see break...not many if any! They are resilient to the continuous pounding of high winds and rain yet survive for another day! When we think of leaping > St. John the Baptist comes to mind when he leaped in his mother's womb in the presence of Jesus in His mother's womb, says something about life doesn't it...hey you asked :)
I love the agility and activity connoted by leap. Very different than passive, stoic “dealing with it” connoted by resilience. Beautiful!
