Yesterday, I felt well enough to crawl out of bed for a long-awaited conversation with my friend and mentor via Zoom.
“You are quite the prolific writer, it’s impressive.”
I’ve done almost nothing this past week short of putting a few words to page for this newsletter.
Fran Lebowitz said, “It’s very psychically wearing not to write—I mean, if you’re supposed to be writing.”
For me, writing is both calling and contradiction.
As the saying goes…singers love to sing, writers love to have written.
There is something akin to physical pain when I’m not writing and yet even more at times while writing.
My hope is to feel better so I can be more ‘prolific’ as my friend noted. I’ve missed the connection to all of you this week as well. It’s as if a part of me has been missing.
It’s psychically draining not to be doing X, if X is what you are called to do.
In the end, I love to have written.
Sending warm thoughts and best wishes for your healing David.
Been battling a tough bug for the past couple of weeks as well. Not fun.
Hope you feel better soon! Your writing is a light and inspiration to me and many others.
You need not be prolific, David. Just consistent.
You are living out your ikigai and germinating it to the rest of us just by being the Constant you are.
