A beloved uncle passed away a few weeks ago. This past weekend our family celebrated his life.
He was described by many as a phenomenal people watcher. Though there is much more to share about him today let’s focus on this.
Growth, learning, and connection all come from the ability to observe the world in which we live in a deeper way.
Let’s practice.
The picture below is my wife’s handicapped parking permit.
What do you notice the arrow pointing to in the image?
Marked clearly on the permit is the direction to remove the tag while driving.
In the coming week be intentional about noticing how many times people leave the tag hanging from the mirror while driving.
These permits aren’t universal and some of you may not be able to use this.
Here’s something else you could try.
Observe people writing and eating.
How many are lefthanded?
If you watch television, observe how many people in commercials are left-handed, especially commercials where eating is involved.
One final observation opportunity. The blue background on the magnifying glass photo. Is it smooth or is there a texture?
Did you notice before?
The title comes from a quote by Yogi Berra.
Though meant to be humorous there is, as is often the case in humor, a great deal of truth in it.
On the left-handed front, I consciously look for that all the time as I am left-handed. 3 out of 4 in my family in fact. Sometimes I’ll even bring it up to a stranger for the heck of it when I notice it.
