Most of What We Know is Wrong
Love this. 'The map is not the territory' is a mental model I was introduced to via Shane Parrish. Great piece David, keep them coming.
The 'map is not the territory' is an insight worthy of a post of its own. Thanks David, thrilled you are here!
Fabulous Post, David! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
"A good understanding is one that holds together long enough to get you to a better understanding.
It might even be helpful to ask ourselves, is this a model 'of' or a model 'for'?"
This is a great lesson in Critical Thinking and Subtle Thinking - both essential for uncovering ourselves ; our Ikigai.....Am I wrong, David?☺️
You are absolutely right Shree, those are essential to the uncovering process.
Insightful David. I like the fact that yes we are good with what we know today to take us to where we need to go tomorrow.
We have to have some starting point. You are so right Amrita, we go with what we know today and grow in understanding.
A lot of things change over time especially Science. I like the part where we try to hold on to the information we have at present to arrive to the new information in the future. After all, this is how we make progress.
Well said Consuelo.
The Box quote is very useful. :)
One of my favorites. Many applications.
