You’re as Cold as You’re Going to Be…
It can be particularly cold here in Wisconsin this time of year; that’s me (below) running in the snow in near single-digit temperatures.1
There is something about being out in the cold with snow coming down. Even though it is beautiful, it is not for the faint of heart.
There is an adage in winter running; you are as cold at the beginning as you are going to be. It is both a gauge of how much gear to wear and a promise that as you run, you will get warmer.
It is the same as starting out with anything—a new skill, a new job, a business...whatever.
You are as cold, as bad, as unskilled as you will ever be right at that moment, and then there is the promise...the extraordinary promise that it gets better from here.
You're as cold as you're going to be right now.
Great insights and great smile! As Forrest Gump may have said....just keep running until you get tired of it! Then find another quest to follow and never really stop....you are right we are cold at the beginning of a walk or run and then we heat up....like life!
This makes me think of developing a skill. We will be as new to any skill as we are going to be when we are starting, but once we warm up and get going we will be off and running 😁
