I think I understand what you mean, but have some reservations about it.

Some situations are simply undesirable. Framing everything as an opportunity could sound like there's no room for hard feelings around a situation, like a disease diagnosis, or the death of a dear one. If anyone feels shock, rage and grief, I don't want them to feel bad because hey this is an opportunity.

It can be. It's just important for me to acknowledge that I don't have to call a bad thing good and I don't need to say it happened for a reason. I can say - these are the cards I have now, I didn't choose them but I can't change them, I choose to make the best of them. That feels more honest, and tolerable, to me.

I agree Malka. Nothing frustrates me more than hearing someone, even with the best of intention, justifying some horrible event that happened to someone else because 'everything happens for a reason.' That's not where this is going at all. It's a bit like my departure from my career. It was wrong AND some good things have come from it. It still shouldn't have happened. In those cases we can become bitter or better and I chose better.

A great inspiration for me today as I attempt to stay open to my ikigai for the next project. Lots of stuff rumbling around in the hopper that I have to work to allow to settle and sort itself. Each day; yesterday being an important one (Thank you, Dave!) seems to provide more clarity. Adventure awaits! Fear, stand aside, to keep me aware but not standing still!
