Luckily I haven't had to dodge any bullets, David. Though I have been in a few sticky situations. Flexibility and humour both helped me through.

My favourite team I ever worked with was military. I loved their black humour and low key reactions to set backs.

It would most likely do every human good to go through, at minimum, boot camp! I’ve always admired the Israelis for, what st least used to be, a requirement for men and women alike, to prepare to serve in their military. It instills confidence, defines one’s understanding of one’s limitations and generates excitement for and preserves patriotism for one’s country.

Gallows humor is like a close cousin to macabre humor in some ways. (Tho my dark humor might be colored a bit by my kids). There are times when life is at its bleakest when the only option is to laugh.

This is great, David (this = the idea and the bullethole art) and works well with my Ikigai.

Do young people even recognize Gumby? Where I live, the walk / don't walk signs at traffic lights aren't words (as they were in NYC) but red or green stick figures I've always referred to as Gumby / red Gumby

Love the whole concept David of being firm but flexible or malleable in one's approach to things on a lighter side. I would presume with the Marines or any force even in business that it is important to know one's capability from the standpoint of the leader and also of the person. When I coached my teenage daughter's team with my wife to a only one loss in the regular season through the regionals and into States, it was always important to know the players capabilities especially young women and put them in a position to excel for themselves and of course the team. God wants us to be like that too....malleable, there are some definitions but I will use this one > Able to adjust to changing circumstances; adaptable. "a malleable leader unafraid to compromise." To sum it up I hope....adjusting to a certain circumstance is vitally important in a battle, business or even for those that run for a hobby! If there is icing conditions other footwear may be worn, a tree falls down in a path that is already narrow or a wild animal comes out of the woods....are we ready in life to be malleable or flexible!
