This is a frightening concept. I start my day with Substack even though I’ve told myself I should start with yoga and meditation. Cocooning myself in this pool of like-minded people lets me know I’m not alone in my thoughts, but it also increases my anger and anxiety. I am in stasis.
Perhaps try a day starting with yoga and meditation before checking out Substack? I do understand the draw to read these wonderful writers as a start to the day.
This is interesting and timely. We spoke today of prayer, and how rote prayer becomes recitation rather than communication. How changing words, physical position, or time of day can break the routine and deepen prayer.
I love your attention to the subtle ways we can reawaken ourselves from the habit state of mind. Thich Nhat Hanh speaks of this choice as slowing ourselves enough to appreciate the manna in everyday existence. Being conscious in as many moments as we are able surely changes everything.
This also brings to mind a quote from Henry Ford (I’m so happy you stirred this back to my conscious mind..I think it’s worth a note post itself❣️)
“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got”
When I see that sign, I see change embracing me. Change is a constant in my life. If anything, I need to be more consistent with the very few habits I have...! 🥴 I guess the change I need is to slow down change.
Lovely. A reminder of the butterfly who causes a tsunami. We have absolutely no idea what the effects of our behavior are. I realize this is not quite where you were heading with this but it seems to bear repeating.

That's an excellent example of this principle in play.
One small thing can make a huge change indeed.. programs can always be rewritten.. :)
I like that!
Thank you!

Another adage that applies here...slow down to speed up.
That is absolutely correct. I truly need to slow down!
