Ikigai Thought for Today: Infinite Ignorance
Giving up the need to have the answer for everything.
Audio narration by David Marlow

From the time we start school, the world gets divided into right answers and wrong answers. Tests and grades gave us the idea that we could know all the correct answers.
The world of work strengthens this idea that we can and should have all the answers. Let’s instead consider something else, let’s call it infinite ignorance.
Here’s what Karl Popper had to say…
The more we know, the more we realize how little we know. Understanding this truth requires a level of humility and a healthy dose of curiosity.
🌀 Reflection:
As you read these questions, resist the need to answer immediately. Sit with the question for a while.
🌱 What's possible out of not knowing?
🌱 What possibilities are created when we don’t have all the answers?
🌱 Why are humility and curiosity required when we are ‘infinitely ignorant?’
Quest well!
Realising we cannot know but are free to explore is liberating, David.
The not knowing offered me the spark of hope in a world where evidence has shown I might not ever heal. Thank you David
