I'm looking at the finite hours I have as a finite human & relishing the imperfectionism of today because learning that I can't have it all, be it all, or do it all is a very hard-won lesson.
Wise words. I started to do it not long ago. It seems that we are taught to look for external approval at all times. Some people get stuck in that loop for the rest of their lives. Others come out of it. I think age has helped me a lot in that field. Mostly because I learned not to care anymore about what anybody else thinks. As always, I love reading your reflections and your Ikigai lessons. Thank you!
I appreciate what you are saying because if we need validation at each point of contact we will be bogged down waiting for every little response. We do still have to listen effectively but not always with people we know and we trust. It all starts when we wake up and then go to sleep...we are in charge of the We or Me. I would add one more important thing to the Ikigai. Ikigai seems to be focused on the improvement of the self...tell me if I am wrong? What my comment in relation to this topic is that we can only do so much. The next step if one believes is also taken with a divine being. A divine being that knows all and most importantly loves all. If we give up ourselves in complete trust to the divine being in our lives than true transformation occurs. For me and mine it is with Jesus. He has revealed himself as the Son of God with the Father and Holy Spirit and died for us to give us new life and a way to go with purpose, essence, harmony and a direction. I am the blank slate and he is the hand that guides my pen!
How many of us know today where we will be tomorrow? The crash victims in DC are on my mind. It made me think “did they know yesterday where they will be today?”
Do the people we love know today where they will be tomorrow? Of course, I am thinking about eternity. And being saved by grace.
Awesome reminder. Every day we set a personal best… even if it is just “days alive on the Earth”! Every day is a chance to make the choice to be our best selves.
(And isn’t today a great day to take back the pun? Errr… pen? 😊)
