David, I'm going with he meant it as a compliment. He definitely saw a gift, and that gift needed a little encouraging spark to ignite a great fire. God bless.
I'm sitting here in Narita Japan noticing that between Taipei & here, I got to page 83 of The Ikigai Way. Reading about Tom, the tough cookie's mission statement has me chuckling about my own self and the sheer wonder that has already unfolded in this land. Had I clung to certainty or old ways of being, I could never have surrendered attachment from things I was ready to shed & been met with the embrace of the unknown. It reminds me time & again of the relationship children must have with the world.

Excellent…nice reflection on Jesus and that parable. We all need help yet once we admit to believing in him then do we truly live!
It is a story I draw on for inspiration frequently. Gives me hope that even in the midst of doubts we are loved.
Love that Mr P gave you a job because he liked what he saw and wanted to know more about you
Yes indeed. He taught me a great many lessons, too. Like so many of my mentors, he's gone now, though his impact remains.
From the old Animal House movie "Where am I and why am I wearing a toga"
Ikigai to Animal House...I love it.
I asked the bartender for a poria but he was flummoxed.
