For twenty years, I pondered this question…
audio narration by David Marlow
🌀What would you do if you were done?🌀
It wasn’t until I was done, at least with my corporate career, that I found my answer.
Something about this Wendell Berry poem captures the essence of what I came to realize, and because of that, I share it with you today.
What does the poet mean by ‘our real work?’
What does real work mean to you?
When have you done your real work in your life?

I live each day like I may be dead by the end of it! My father died in my arms at a young age for him and my mom in a car accident later in her life. SO> learned with other examples as well that life is not with a guaranteed life stamp so do the best each day to leave a legacy to be proud of, family/friends that respect and value the relationship with you and respect and thank God for each day to get closer to Him and our full-worth and potential! Continued theme from me David as you can see :)
Hi David, I love this question of real work. So far, I would say that I the most real and important work I have done is, with my husband's help, to raise my daughter to be a fulfilled and joyful adult. Also, through my teaching career, I have brought a love of the English language to hundreds of students. But I'm not done yet. My new coaching career is taking off and my writing continues to be a source of great joy to me. I feel incredibly fortunate in having enjoyed a lifetime of meaningful experiences. And I am always pondering about the depths of our human experience. I love your post and the poem. Thank you.
