Ikigai Thought for a Friday
For runners, every day is 72° and sunny even when it isn’t. Running was easy yesterday because it was true despite being a November day in Wisconsin.
Breathe in, breathe out, left foot, right foot. The process of running allows me to ponder and refine.
Around mile four, I grasped something. Over time running has removed many things. Insecurities, judgment, need for approval, doubts, fears, and baggage of all sorts.
Perhaps the Ikigai journey, like running, isn't about becoming or accomplishing anything in particular. It is quite possible the object is to let go of anything that isn't truly you so that you can be who you were created to be.
Great points David and not a runner by any means and more of a walker or driver in the car and past hiker. Yet one can still appreciate the beauty of slowing down and being in the silence! Remember> The word 'listen' contains the same letters as the word 'silent'. We need to appreciate listening more to ourselves and others...Peace!
So powerful, David! I love how you've connected the process of focusing on a good run with the process of focusing on a good run (in life, Ikigai). Brilliant. Simple. Thank you.
