Thanks David, this really resonates with me and reminds me of a note I shared the other day:
"I met my new Indian grandpa friend in the park today while our kids played again. Turns out he is a retired Psychology professor. He said the past doesn’t really exist, it is ALWAYS just a thought, and neither the future, similarly, so all that only and always exists is the present moment, like time is vertical rather than horizontal. My toddler daughter enjoyed picking raspberries and eating them; I think she already knows."
Thank you for the reminder! It's great to think of this time last year, this year, and the year ahead. Very useful exercise! I am right now in some experiences that give me the opportunity to enjoy the progress but also the clarity of what I want to do differently next year.
Seek more of the Truth in all things! Be curious. Love people more and don't be biased. Living in the Present is the major task for each of us. We can learn from the past but need to move on in all that is good and not so good. The future yes needs to be considered but not too far ahead!
A critical question, David. Many of us can reflect on some things that improved since last year. Others are just "different". This can bring us comfort to release our attachment to living in the future so we can experience less anxiety now, and be free to enjoy the present more as a result.
REFLECT on the past.
VISUALIZE the future.
LIVE in the present.
This way, even if the present is less than desirable, we can avoid tripling our discomfort.
Thank you as always for the generosity of sharing your insights David! I read a passage this morning (actually several now that I'm centering on the specific words) devoted to seeing with the heart. May every breath we receive, give &...the space in between be imbued with that blessing 🙏

I’m delighted this provided a thought spark!

"...even if the present is less than desirable..." Poignant point my friend.
I'm not sure, but it certainly involves a slow sip of coffee :)
It almost certainly does...cheers! ☕️
